Additional Information: Is the grand-daughter of a powerful gypsy fortune teller. Known to the gypsy nation as mókado didikai (an impure half-breed).

Powers: Energy blasts that are produced from the palm of her hands. The energy is a unique mixture of plasma and electric current. She has no control over her powers but she can always tell when she is about to have an 'episode' due to an intense burning in her hands.

To help keep her powers from lashing out and injuring those around her, Dr. Hank McCoy has developed special gloves for Jadine to wear, they are fingerless, which allow her to be able to touch people and other objects, and on the palm of her hand is a thin layer of Rhenium, a strong metal with the ability to withstand temperatures that reach 3180 degrees C. The gloves were made black, as requested by Jade, they look almost normal aside from the cool metal on the inside of her hand.

Personality: Usually keeps to herself, not to be rude or to establish herself as a loner, but she feels it is the best way to protect others around her...from herself. Always see things differently then others, glass usually never looks half empty, or half full...it just looks like water to her.

History: In the summer of 1986 there was a media frenzy in the small town of Jackson Mississippi. A three year old girl was found locked in a basement with very little clothing and very little food. The news covered the story of the parents being arrested and charged with child neglect among other things. Their only reply was, "You don't understand! She's a monster!" When the tv cameras finally captured their shots of the little starving girl, they saw her for what she was. A mutant from birth. Her black ebony hair was clashed with bright emerald streaks, her eyes and lips shown the same hue. The media slowly began to dissappear, she was after all a mutant child.

Years later Jadine had settled into a foster family. She had no real powers but it was evident that she truly was a mutant child. Her foster mother usually made her wear a hat with her green streaks hidden from sight, her green eyes were easy to pass off as human, but her green lips were hard to hide. Her foster mother covered the small nine year olds lips with pale pink lipstick. With her hat on she looked normal, which made her foster mom happy. And made Jade miserable.

Four years later Jadine turned thirteen. And her dormant powers finally emerged. She was having a fight with her foster parents, she was officially a teenager now after all and she felt as thought she knew more about life then them. It was in the middle of the argument when Jadine felt her hands burning. She started to scratch them thinking that maybe she must have been biten by a small bug. She walked into the bathroom and turned on the facet, she ran her burning hands under the faucet when suddenly she began to feel an overwhelming sence of pure heat fill her body. Frightened she called for her foster mother who walked into the bathroom just as the burning left her body in the form of an electric plasma jolt that ripped through everything around her at remarkable speed.

Hours later the fireman and police were puting together what might have happened. They had a house completely burned to the ground with two dead bodies inside. Neighbors reported seeing a type of green lava explode from the house. Jadine watched all the commotion from a block away, her hair covered by a black bandanna. She let her tears float down her face as she said a silent, "I'm sorry." for her foster parents. She looked down at her hands at the burned flesh in the middle of her palms. She only had one place to go.

Jadine returned to the abandoned house of her past. She had read old newspaper clippings about her parents and knew about her the abandoned house. No one would buy the house that was inhabited by the mutant child and her deranged parents. Jadine walked up the broken steps and kicked open the door. Cobwebs and dust covered everything in sight. Jadine sighed and began sweeping up her new home.

Seven years later Jadine has decided to take a tour of the U.S., after riding her motorcycle through several states she found her way to New York. She was walking the streets when she heard rumors of a school for mutants. Jadine glanced down at her hands, they were covered with her fingerless biker gloves she always wears. They covered her scars and her secrets. She decided to find out more about the school for mutants, maybe they can help her control the burning.

History at the Mansion: After several months of being the resident biker/tomboy, Jadine's life took an unexpected turn. One night, Jadine's bike gave its last quarter mile, unfortunately she was still on it when it decided to finally give out. The engine died and her brake wire snapped, causing her to crash into the large gate separating the mansion from the outside world.

She gave up biking forever.

After a broken leg, three brusied ribs, and a concussion suffered from the wreck, Jadine's powers were now stuck in the 'on' position. This is what resulted in the creation of metal gloves that now encase her hands, and the start of Jadine's total devotion to her paintings. She sold many paintings in her friend Roxy's art gallery, and gained the attention of Professor Xavier.

She is now heavily involved with teaching art to other students. And to the surprise of several of her teachers, she has shown an incredible knack for taking charge of situations, and has even helped the X-men on a few missions. Earning her the codename Flare. With the approval of her once-mentor, now teammate Cyclops, Jadine is the newest member of the X-Men.
